![]() ![]() GEO Blue Planet tackles the end of the value chain from observations to applications based on a network of ocean and coastal-observers, social scientists and end-user representatives from a variety of stakeholder groups from high-level partners such as UNEP and regional IOC-UNESCO offices to end-users. The Blue Planet Initiative works to ensure the sustained development and use of ocean and coastal observations for the benefit of society by identifying the information needs – consolidating stakeholder engagement, by building tools that meet these needs – scientific cooperation and co-design with the users, and by strengthening and transferring capabilities – capacity development activities. GEO Blue Planet is the ocean and coastal arm of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) – an intergovernmental partnership, composed of more than 100 national governments and 100 Participating Organisations that works to improve the availability, access and use of Earth observations for a sustainable planet. Entrusted to MOi by the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments, EU4OceanObs works to strengthen international ocean governance for enhanced collection, sharing and use of ocean observations for societal benefit on a global scale.įor more information on and activities of the EU Office of GEO Blue Planet, click here. The EU coordination of GEO Blue Planet is funded by the European Union under the EU4OceanObs project launched in November 2020. Dr Hasson is fully integrated in the MOi team and is part of the scientific The EU Office is composed of the EU coordinator, Dr Audrey Hasson and a communication officer. The EU Office together with the US Office, which is hosted by NOAA and the University of Maryland, make up the GEO Blue Planet Secretariat, providing scientific and logistical support to all GEO Blue Planet activities, and developing global partnerships. It provides the extensibility and openness needed to power the digital transformation.Mercator Ocean International (MOi) hosts the European (EU) Office of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Blue Planet Initiative. It also enables a pragmatic path toward the adaptive network.īlue Planet, a division of Ciena, is a comprehensive software suite combining orchestration, advanced analytics, inventory, and network service assurance in a common architecture. The Blue Planet Intelligent Automation portfolio meets these needs by facilitating the adoption of technologies, such as Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) to modernize and transform operations. To make profit from these long-term trends, the network providers need greater agility, efficiency and automation across their network infrastructure. ![]() The world is increasingly connected with growing subscribers, devices and applications, the rise of Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine communications. Intelligent automation is the path to the Adaptive Network™ It efficiently fulfills, manages and assures today’s dynamic and on-demand services. Blue Planet leverages leading-edge technologies to enable intelligent automation across IT and network operations. Open and standards-based, Blue Planet works with any vendor’s network elements and leverages open APIs (Application Program Interface) to streamline integration with third-party software systems. It helps operators increase network and service agility, improve the customer experience, and reduce operational costs. The Blue Planet® Intelligent Automation portfolio automates and optimizes business processes. The segregation will be done based on the Control and User Plane solution.įigure 3: Introducing the Blue Planet Portfolio This NSSAID will be used to instantiate individual Network Functions, both in virtual Radio Access Network (vRAN) and the core infrastructure. A unique Network Slice Selection Assistance Identifier (NSSAID) will be triggered every time a request is being processed. The end-to-end slice flow will be orchestrated starting from 5G Radio Access Network through 5G core. This slice will be instantiated using Blue Planet Orchestrator and have scale-in/scale-out handling capabilities. If it doesn’t exist, the system will trigger an instantiation of a brand new slice with dynamic portfolio. If it exists, the system will select the slice and not perform any additional change. Once a User Equipment requests a slice, the system will validate whether the requested slice exists or not. It will create a slice above an orchestrator layer which will communicate with Blue Planet. ![]() ![]() HSM will enable an end-to-end (E2E) slice selection flow, which will create dynamic slice based on an operator’s request.
